The Magic that is a ClipClock®
I have been a part of the Sterling Renaissance Festival since 1993, starting out as the Ukrainian Egg Lady creating Pysanky. I aided in the set up of the Gift Shop and even was a pub wench for a weekend. Then I became a singer/performer with a group that I helped create, Concinnity. The first ClipClock™ was created in April of 2004.
My Mother passed away from cancer after 20 years of it being in her life on 3/27/04. I had left my job, Administrator at the Oswego County Humane Society, months earlier and cared for my Mom full time. When she passed I didn't know what I was going to do, my energy level was zero, my heart was broken. As I sorted through her jewelry, to give to family and friends, I found I was at the point where I couldn't even throw away the broken pieces. So I started to make a pile by itself. When I tossed the first two pieces, a tiny clock from an old necklace and a brooch, to the nearest open area on the floor, I felt a tap on my head and I looked around and saw that they, lo and behold, had landed together. I literally put my forehead to the floor looking level with the brooch - I couldn't see the clock! So I put my brain to work. I soldered and glued pieces back together made a hinge and fixed the clock and I got a pin to secure the clip to my belt. The first weekend of the Sterling Festival that year all the actors kept asking me, "What the heck are you looking at?" Each one that saw it wanted one, by the end of the day I had 15 orders with NO idea how to make another...... that's how I got my start. I believe it was my Mother guiding those pieces together and then thunking me on the head so I'd notice! Thank you all for your continued support in my small business. I am beyond grateful. I see my Mom smile with every one that is sold. Deanna |
